Ebony Godwin is a Registered Nurse, American Heart Association (AHA) certified CPR and BLS Instructor, and founder of Hospital Med Supply and Sanctuary Strong™.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do all of our Medical Emergency Response Team members have to be nurses or healthcare professionals?

No. Your Medical Emergency Response Team does not have to be made up entirely of healthcare professionals. Churches may have nurses, physicians, EMTs, or other healthcare professionals available, but other members can also serve in roles appropriate to their training and responsibilities. Sanctuary Strong helps your church establish a coordinated response structure so responsibilities do not depend on one person being present.

What if we already have an AED?

You may not need the Complete System. Sanctuary Strong also offers an option for churches that already own an AED and want help establishing the people, plan, procedures, practice, and ongoing readiness around their existing equipment.

What if we already have nurses or other healthcare professionals in our congregation?

That is a valuable resource, but your church's response should not depend entirely on one healthcare professional being present. Sanctuary Strong helps establish a team approach so responsibilities can be coordinated and other responders know how to help within their training and assigned roles.

Is CPR/AED certification included?

CPR/AED certification is not automatically included because some churches already have trained responders. If training is needed, Hospital Med Supply offers additional training options. In-person training is available in the Greater Cincinnati area, and virtual CPR/AED certification may be available for churches that do not have reasonable access to a local instructor. Equipment and shipping requirements apply to virtual training.

Can we purchase Sanctuary Strong if we're outside Cincinnati?

Yes. The Sanctuary Strong Complete System is available to churches outside the Greater Cincinnati area through shipped physical materials, the Sanctuary Strong Implementation Hub, video guidance, biweekly group implementation support, and AED Command. Certain in-person services are limited to the Greater Cincinnati area or may require a separate quote.

Can Sanctuary Strong be used at a church with multiple campuses?

Yes. The Sanctuary Strong Complete System includes implementation for one church location and one AED. Additional locations, AEDs, and more complex implementations are available separately. AED Command is designed to support ongoing readiness management across multiple AEDs and locations.

What is an Emergency Action Plan?

An Emergency Action Plan (EAP) is your church's written plan for responding to a medical emergency. It establishes how your church will organize and coordinate its response until professional emergency medical services arrive.

Does Sanctuary Strong provide medical care or medical direction?

No. Sanctuary Strong is a church medical emergency readiness and implementation program. It does not replace EMS, professional medical care, legal advice, or medical direction.

The ZOLL AED included with the Complete System is registered through the applicable ZOLL process and includes the required medical authorization/prescription.

Does Sanctuary Strong guarantee the outcome of a medical emergency?

No. No emergency preparedness program, AED, training course, or response plan can guarantee the outcome of a medical emergency. Sanctuary Strong is designed to help churches improve their preparedness, organization, practice, and ongoing readiness before an emergency occurs.

How long do we have access to the Sanctuary Strong Implementation Hub?

Your church receives 90 days of access to the Sanctuary Strong Implementation Hub from activation. One Hub account is assigned to the purchasing church location's designated Implementation Coordinator.

The designated Implementation Coordinator is also the church representative who participates in the included biweekly group Implementation Sessions.

When are the live implementation sessions?

Sanctuary Strong™ group implementation sessions are held every other Tuesday from 12:00–1:00 PM Eastern Time during the 90-day implementation period. Upcoming dates and meeting links are posted inside the Sanctuary Strong Hub.

If you cannot attend live, you may submit implementation questions in advance through the Hub. Recordings of the educational portion of live sessions will also be added to the Hub so you can review them later.

What happens at the end of the 90 days?

Your church keeps its physical Sanctuary Strong materials and may continue using authorized reusable resources that were downloaded for internal use by the purchasing church location. Access to the Sanctuary Strong Implementation Hub, community, and biweekly group implementation support ends after the included 90-day period.

What happens to AED Command after 90 days?

The Complete System includes 90 days of AED Command. After the included period, continued use of AED Command is available through a separate paid subscription.

Can we add CPR training, another AED, pediatric pads, or other services?

Yes. Additional training, equipment, implementation support, and readiness services are available separately based on your church's needs.
