A Simple Emergency Readiness System for Churches

Sanctuary Strong™ helps churches prepare for medical emergencies with clear roles, practical tools, and structured training so leaders and volunteers can respond with confidence.

When a medical emergency strikes during worship or ministry time, every second and every decision counts. Without a plan, volunteers hesitate, leaders worry, and precious time is lost even if you have good intentions.

Already have an AED?
Sanctuary Strong System can be implemented using your existing equipment while still providing structured training, documentation, and readiness coordination.

A Testimony That Sparked Sanctuary Strong™

This is my aunt sharing what happened when she suffered a heart attack during a church service and later a stroke during Bible study when no one was prepared and the one nurse in the church had not arrived yet.

Sanctuary Strong moves churches from intention to implementation by providing equipment, structured training, documentation, and leadership guidance so your church does not have to figure it out alone.

Trusted Training. Calm, Clear Instruction.

I recently completed a CPR course with Hospital Med Supply, and it exceeded my expectations. I had taken a course about 6 years ago and had an idea of what to expect. But I had a greater appreciation of Ebony’s (owner) professionalism, passion, humor, and practical experience as a nurse (including ER). I highly recommend Hospital Med Supply!

Understanding the Value of Emergency Readiness

Churches often ask how to think about the cost of emergency preparedness. The simplest way to look at it is this:

An AED is a device.
Emergency readiness is a responsibility.

Here’s how those two approaches differ.

Equipment vs System

Buying an AED Alone

  • Provides a life-saving device

  • Requires someone to locate and operate it

  • Assumes trained responders are present

  • Often lacks assigned responsibility or documentation

An AED is an essential tool.
But without structure, response depends on assumptions.

Implementing a Readiness System

  • Provides the AED and a defined response plan

  • Assigns roles before an emergency occurs

  • Includes training and documentation

  • Establishes a simple monthly readiness process

A readiness system ensures equipment, training, and leadership alignment work together.

What Churches Are Really Investing In

Sanctuary Strong is not priced as a class or a piece of equipment.
It reflects the value of:

  • Protecting congregants and guests

  • supporting volunteers so they're not left guessing

  • Giving leaders confidence that a plan exists

  • Reducing chaos during critical moments

  • Stewarding responsibility with intention

For most churches, this investment is comparable to:

  • One special event

  • A single technology upgrade

  • A short-term facility improvement

But the impact extends to every gathering, every ministry, every service.

A Simple Perspective

Churches don’t invest in emergency readiness because they expect something to happen.
They invest so that
if something does happen, they are not unprepared.

That is stewardship, not fear.

Churches Feel Confident, Not Just Equipped

“…it boosted our members’ confidence to save a life…”

"Not only did you ensure that we were equipped with an adequate and appropriate AED device, you offered and provided a full-service management program that included professional instruction and CPR certification."

- Jinada S., AED/CPR training coordinator

What Changes When a Church Has a Readiness System

When a readiness system is in place:

  • Volunteers know their role instead of hesitating

  • Leaders feel confident a plan exists

  • Emergency response is calm, not chaotic

  • Readiness becomes part of ministry, not an afterthought

Sanctuary Strong helps churches move from uncertainty to calm, responsible preparedness so your congregation can focus on worship, not worry.

THE DECISION

An AED Is a Device. Readiness Is a System.

An AED is essential equipment. A readiness system ensures it is visible, maintained, and supported by trained volunteers.

  • Volunteers feel confident knowing what to do

  • Leaders sleep better knowing a plan is in place

  • Readiness becomes part of your ministry, not an afterthought

FAQ

Still deciding? Here’s what other churches asked before joining…

Q: Do we really need this if we’ve never had an emergency?

A: Some churches begin thinking about emergency readiness after an incident. Others choose to prepare in advance. In either case, readiness is not about fear or blame. It is about ensuring that if a medical emergency occurs, your team can respond calmly and confidently.

Q: How is this different from purchasing an AED alone?

A: Because an AED is a tool. Sanctuary Strong provides the structure around it: defined roles, documented procedures, training coordination, and a simple readiness process. The system ensures the device is visible, maintained, and supported by a prepared team.

Q: Why does Sanctuary Strong cost more than basic AED?

A: Many AED packages focus primarily on equipment. Sanctuary Strong delivers a complete readiness system: the AED, structured training for volunteers, placement guidance where applicable, and binder tools that help your church stay ready long after installation.

The investment reflects building a coordinated readiness framework, not simply purchasing a device.

Q: Do we need medical professionals on our team, or is this more than just buying an AED?

A: No medical professionals are required. Sanctuary Strong is designed for churches made up of volunteers and staff, not clinicians.

While a basic AED purchase provides equipment, Sanctuary Strong provides a structured readiness system with defined roles, training, documentation, and guidance so volunteers know how to respond appropriately until EMS arrives.

Q: How long does CPR certification last?

A: CPR certifications last for 2 years. We’ll remind your team when it’s time for renewal so your church stays compliant and confident.

Q: Do we need pediatric AED pads?

A: If your church has a children’s ministry, daycare, or school, pediatric pads are strongly recommended. They’re available as an optional upgrade to your bundle.

Q: What happens if we actually use the AED?

A: If your AED is ever used, we’ll help you reset it so it’s ready for the next emergency. This includes downloading the rescue data, checking the battery, and replacing the pads if needed.

Post-incident support is available for $99 plus the cost of replacement supplies (pads and/or batteries). This ensures your AED is fully reset, tested, and ready to save lives again.

Q: Is Sanctuary Strong only available in Cincinnati?

A: Sanctuary Strong is available nationwide. Churches across the U.S. can receive the complete emergency readiness system, including equipment, documentation, and training options designed for remote delivery.
For churches in the Greater Cincinnati area, we also offer in-person CPR/AED training and on-site placement support.

Q: What if our team is already CPR/AED certified?

A: If your team is already certified, we integrate your existing CPR/AED training into the Sanctuary Strong readiness system by aligning roles, documentation, and refresher practice sessions so your church remains prepared.

Q: What if our church already has an AED?

A: Sanctuary Strong is more than equipment. If your church already has an AED, we can implement the system using your existing device while still providing training coordination, documentation, and readiness support. Contact us to discuss the best implementation approach for your church.

About the Creator

Meet Ebony Godwin, RN — The Heart Behind Sanctuary Strong

Hi, I’m Ebony Godwin, a Registered Nurse, CPR/AED Instructor, and founder of Hospital Med Supply.

Several years ago, my aunt suffered a heart attack at church. Like many churches, there was no AED on site and no clear emergency response plan. It wasn't because anyone was careless, but because no one had ever shown them what readiness could look like.

Sanctuary Strong is a faith-centered emergency readiness program I created within Hospital Med Supply to help churches build safety teams, place AEDs correctly, and train volunteers so your church family can worship in peace.

Sanctuary Strong™ is a church safety program by Hospital Med Supply LLC.
